JBF Environmental Technology, division of Slickbar Products Corporation, has been a manufacturer of Oil and Debris Recovery Equipment and Vessels for over 35 years. The headquarters, sales and marketing, engineering and manufacturing facilities are located in Seymour, CT. in the United States. JBF has representation in all regions of the globe.

In 1969, JBF developed a patented method for physically removing oil and other floating material from the surface of water. The United States Environmental Protection Agency purchased the first operational Dynamic Inclined Plane (DIP) oil skimmer for the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command in 1970.

The success of JBF skimming systems lies with the extremely high performance of the JBF Dynamic Inclined Plane oil recovery system in a wide range of oil types and wide range of operating conditions. The key feature of the JBF DIP skimmer is it's ability to collect and separate the oil in a single operation. The high performance of the DIP skimmer is maintained in thick oil slicks and in sheens. The ability of the JBF DIP skimmer to collect oil at speeds up to 5 knots enables the spill clean up time to be dramatically reduced. The proven JBF DIP skimming system has been thoroughly tested both in the field and in test tanks. The design of the JBF DIP oil recovery system, whether in an integrated Oil Recovery Vessel or an "over-the-side" VOSS system, allows for easy and safe deployment. The DIP skimming systems also incorporate debris removal and handling systems to allow operation in non-ideal conditions. The JBF Oil Spill Recovery Vessels can function as multi-purpose vessels, with addition of fire fighting equipment, dispersant systems, boom storage, command control and towing capabilities.

Since 1969, JBF has manufactured over 250 oil spill recovery systems and vessels for government agencies and commercial operations. There are systems in operation throughout the world, including the U.S., Canada, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and Australia. The oil recovery systems include small, portable, shallow water units, Vessel of Opportunity Skimming Systems (VOSS), Recovered Oil Storage Barges, 23'-33' Shallow Water Multipurpose Boats, 45' Harbor Skimmers, and 75-210' complete offshore integrated Oil Spill Recovery Vessels. The United States Navy purchased and operates over 50 JBF DIP Oil Recovery Vessels at ports throughout the world. The 123' 600LT JBF vessels, the Valdez Star, in Prince William Sound, Alaska and the Shearwater, in Puget Sound, Washington are two of the largest integrated Oil Spill Recovery Vessels in the world.
